August at Willow & Stone

Falmouth Week

What started out as a local sailing regatta in 1837 has now become a week of events and activities for all ages that can be enjoyed on land or from the water in Falmouth. This brought such a lively atmosphere to town during the week, and we loved welcoming lots of new visitors to our shop on the high street.
The highlight of the week for many is the annual Red Arrows display that takes place over the bay. The office conversation in the days before centred around sharing our favourite vantage points to watch from; we all agreed the best spot this year went to our stock coordinator Nick who donned his flippers and swam out at Gyllyngvase beach to watch the show from the water.
Sarah and Hazel both looked fabulous in their pink wigs as they walked through the high street with hundreds of other attendees for the Pink Wig Parade, which raises money for the Breast Care Team at Royal Cornwall Hospital and the charity Breast Care Now.

Outdoor Summer Collection

This month we loved curating the Outdoor Summer Collection for our August newsletter. Pouring through our range to select our favourite summer pieces was a dreamy task, and we now have all your essentials for dining and lounging al fresco grouped onto a few handy pages.
We’re especially loving our recycled wool blankets. Although these aren’t new to our range, they’re our favourite versatile product for this time of year, as they can be used for picnics outside to soak up the last of the summer days and are equally useful for the chilly Autumn nights we have approaching!

Ex-Display Products

This month Hazel has been working hard to catalogue all our Ex-Display products and add these to the website. When we use fittings in a photoshoot or window display, they may be left with a few light surface marks or signs of use afterwards, but are still perfectly usable and their minor surface flaws do not affect the function.
We now offer these to customers at a reduced price – look out for the ‘Ex-Display’ option when selecting your product.

Updating Our Window Display

This month Hazel and Fliss were brainstorming a way to freshen up our summer window display, and had the great idea to put our adorable Maileg bunnies to work with our eco-friendly Rattan Carpet Beater and Rice Straw Hand Brush. Add in the beautiful cream Kilda rug and our sustainable wooden pegs, and voila! We love how this turned out and agree it may even inspire us to catch up on our own housework (which has been somewhat neglected during this month’s heat waves…).

Staff Picks This Month:

In a couple of weeks our lovely Lucy (the friendly voice at the end of the phone when you give our customer service team a call) will be off on maternity leave, so we had to ask her to share her favourite products this month while we have the chance!

Superhero Maxi Mouse with Blue Mask - This supplier has been an all-time favourite of mine, the main reason being that the products are so beautifully designed. All the items that arrive with us are unbelievably adorable!

They have such a traditional, heirloom look to them that means all Maileg toys are classic and timeless.

Gemstone Fairy Lights in Green - As a lover of house plants, these enchanting green lights are on the top of my ‘to buy’ list after our house move later this year.

The details are ever so delicate, and the coppery-brown wire gives the lights that beautiful rustic feel. I cannot wait to get my hands on these!

‘The Cyclists’ Luxury Matchbox - For these matches, it was love at first sight! Being a fan of all things bike, ‘The Cyclists’ matches have everything I love in an illustration. The cheeky hand drawn bear and monkey are amazing, and the colour scheme is so warm and autumnal.
