Antique Nickel Maintenance
A SIMPLE GUIDE TO CARING FOR YOUR ANTIQUE NICKEL PRODUCTS
About the finish
To achieve this finish, Nickel is plated over solid brass and then oxidised to deepen the shade. The surface is brushed to give a softly weathered texture, and a dark aged patina is applied by hand. This settles into any detailing or recessed areas and gives further depth to the finish, resulting in an authentic aged look.
Finally, a layer of lacquer is applied to protect the finish.
Suitability
Suitable for interior use only, as exposure to the elements can cause an accelerated deterioration of the lacquer.
Maintenance
To remove build-up of grime and oils on the surface of the finish that can affect the lacquer over time, regular cleaning with warm soapy water is recommend. Once the fittings have been thoroughly dried, we recommend following this with a gentle application of pure Beeswax polish.
Top Tips
Never use abrasive cloths or chemical based cleaning products on Antique Nickel as this can result in advanced deterioration of the lacquer.
This finish is not recommended for high usage areas.
