What we mean by 'In Production'

Some pieces on our website may be listed as IN PRODUCTION (as opposed to In stock or Out of stock), this means that they are in the process of being traditionally made and finished by hand in our UK foundry.

How Long Does It Take

Dependent on where the item is in the production process it will either be on a 1-2 week or 4-5 week lead time. Once your order has been placed we will be in touch to confirm an expected delivery date for your exact items, alternatively please feel free to contact us in advance of placing your order.

More About The Process

This collection of the highest quality ironmongery is made in a UK foundry that prides itself on craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Pieces are made from solid brass (or bronze) and applied with a variety finishes chosen for durability, longevity and aesthetics.

With a heritage of over 155 years much of the ironmongery is made using traditional sand casting techniques. Casting is typically used for products with complex shapes, where molten metal is poured into molds and allowed to solidify.

After the initial shaping process, pieces are hand finished to enhance their appearance and protect them from corrosion. This can include polishing, buffing, electroplating, powder coating, or applying protective coatings.

Throughout the manufacturing process, quality control measures are implemented to verify the functionality, fit, finish, and overall quality of the hardware.

Fitting

We advise that carpenters are not booked to fit products until they have been received and you are sure they are just right for your project. Products which are sand casted (letterplates for example) can vary by a couple of millimeters in size, we therefore recommend only making alterations to doors, cupboards and so on once the items have arrived and the products measured again for accuracy.
